05-06-07 - Wind again reduced viewing time but what I could see was clear and detailed!

05-06-07 - Mike Strieber took this great shot of today's dancing proms!

05-07-07 - Little gusy winds frustrated me although visibility was great!

05-07-07 - John Stetson's image shows 953 approaching the limb and awaiting proms!

05-07-07 - Actually had 3 viewing sessions today, this was the third, 953 is all but gone!

05-08-07 - Clear disk except for a small filament and sunspot 955 near E limb...
The day got very exciting as a large explosive prom took off in the early evening!

05-08-07 - John Stetson caught this great set of a rapidly changing prom today!

05-09-07 - 1st, of hopefully, a few viewing sessions today, little high haze in a.m.,
955 is easy to spot as it moves toward center of disk along with some proms!

05-09-07 - I was lucky enough to catch an explosive prom from beginning to end today,
SOHO snapped a pic at the perfect time also!

05-09-07 - Patrick Stoker took these incredible images, first is sunspot 955, great detail!

He also captured these towers of plasma!

05-10-07 - Little high haze in a.m., but all in all, very good visibility, possible new active region!
955 was very clear, I could see small proms crossing the region, very kewl!

05-10-07 - Mike Strieber again captured some spectacular proms!

05-11-07 - Clouds and rain gave way for a quick viewing session!

05-11-07 - Robert Morlan captured this great shot!

05-12-07 - Lots of proms and growing filaments!

05-12-07 - Robert Arnold captured this great shot of Sunspot 955!
Does anyone else see a solar scorpion?

05-13-07 - Nice "M" shaped prom on SW limb, disk very bright, found it hard to see surface detail!

05-13-07 - Robert Arnold shared his magic with me again, one still and one animated!

05-13-07 - John Stetson and his student Brandon took this great shot today!

05-14-07 - New active region was easier to see than 955, scattered filaments today also!

05-14-07 - Larry Alvarez took an incredible series, here's a couple!...

05-16-07 - Wind and clouds may today a struggle!

05-16-07 - We've all heard of a blue moon, ever heard of a blue sun?
Pete Lawrence captured one in this great CA image!

05-17-07 - Perfect day with plenty to see!

05-17-07 - Maxim Usatov captured this great shot of sunspot 956!

05-19-07 - WOW! I watched 956 for 40 mins before sketching and it was far from static!
Proms all over the place as well, sol woke up active and spectacular this morning!
956 maintained a beautiful looped prom over it all day, very picturesque!
UPDATE: Reported on spaceweather.com on 5-24-07 - On May 19th at 12:52 Universal Time,
a magnetic filament erupted on the sun. The blast sent shock waves billowing through
the sun's atmosphere; those waves, in turn, generated strong Type II solar radio emissions.
Amateur astronomer Thomas Ashcraft heard them in the loudspeaker of his 21 MHz ham receiver

05-19-07 - Got Milk?...Pete Lawrence knows how to shoot Calcium, that's for sure!!
